These instructions include Options #1 and #2 as summarized below.

1. You can follow the on-screen prompts from the Update Apple ID notification.  This method seemed to be a hit or miss depending on the awareness of the existing password and often would put the user in a loop of not being able to reset the password and not being able to validate existing account.
1. If you don’t remember your Apple ID password.  Please start with “Forgot your Password”
2. You can Sign-out of your Apple ID, create a new iCloud account, and Sign-In with new account.  We have determined as users struggle with OPTION #1 that it was sometimes easier to just follow OPTION #2.

We have discovered once through the process that each and every device had retained the user’s contact information, loaded apps on the device, and other important things they wanted to keep.
